WHO'S MORE IMPORTANT?

 WHO'S MORE IMPORTANT?

 BIBLE PASSAGE: 1 Corinthians 3:1-11

 INTRODUCTION:

Paul confronts their condition in Corinthian Church. They are not behaving like a spiritual people, but like carnal or like immature Christians. They thought of themselves spiritual but their divisions, envy and strife show that they are living in the flesh.  Another thing is, the Corinthian people arguing about who was better. The first one said “I am of Paul” and another said “I am of Apollos.” This thinking shows that they are carnal.

Remember the verse in Matthew 18:1.

At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?

The same happens in our society today. Sometimes we think more highly of a pastor graduated in a famous bible college than a pastor graduated in a Church Bible institute. The pastor is chosen as the speaker because of the quantity of his members. Sometimes when a church is replaced by a new pastor and it becomes successful, we tend to think that the previous pastor is better than the old one which we don’t think that the first might be used by God to prepare the ministry. Either the first or the second is better because both serve the Lord.

LESSON POINTS:

1)   THE RESULTS IN YOUR SERVICE FOR CHRIST IN THE MINISTRY DOES NOT DETERMINE YOUR WORTH (1 COR.3:7)

·       The Christian worker who plants and the Christian worker who waters the plant are the same worker of God. We can’t gauge that the other is better because they serve the same LORD. Remember is it GOD who gives the increase.

·       If you only have a small group, don’t let that discouraged you. Remember your labor is not in vain in the Lord. One may prepare the soil and the other waters and harvests them but God who gives the increase.

  2)    AREAS OF SERVICE DOES NOT DETERMINE YOUR STATUS AMONG THE BRETHREN (1 COR.3:9-10)

·       No one should brag himself how great he is because we are all laborers of God.

·       Paul became effective because of God. Without HIM we are nothing.

·       In Ephesians 3:7 Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power

·       Having gifts according to grace given to us by God. He gifted us in a different way. So, there are some things we can’t do but others can. Also, there are some things we can do and others can’t.

·       Romans 12:5-6 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

·       1 Corinthians 4:7 For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?

·       Anyone who is serving God and has been gifted in that specific area of service, does not determine their status because that’s the way God is gifted them; that’s the way God has called them to serve.

  3)    It’s WHO and HOW we serve is always more important than where we serve (1 COR. 3:10-11)

·       It’s not where you serve is more important. You can serve as a Sunday School Teacher, flower arranger, in the kitchen as a kitchen crew, and many more.

·       More than the social status is WHO and HOW you serve.

·       WHO’S THE MOST IMPORTANT IN THE MINISTRY? – It’s actually THE LORD JESUS CHRIST.

·       It’s should be our privileged and honor to serve God in whatever capacity He calls and gifts us.

CONCLUSION:

2 Corinthians 4:1 Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;

No ministry should be look lowly or unnecessary.

MALAYA BA AKO? (TAGALOG CHRISTIAN MONOLOGUE)

MALAYA BA AKO?

MONOLOGUE @krisha412

November 2024

PASIMULA:

Background Music: (piano instrumental)

Voice over: Rafael Enriquez, you have been found guilty of First-Degree Murder and I sentence you to life imprisonment.

Sound effect: Police Screen Sound Effect & Jail door effect

Setting: Prison Cell

RAFAEL: (sisigaw) Hindi! Hindi ito puwede! Ayaw ko dito! Bakit ako nandito? Bakit!! (sigaw)…. Bakit nga ba ako nandito? (patanong)…

Bakit kayo ba?

Anong sabi nyo, mali?

Napapaisip tuloy ako, MALAYA NGA BA AKO noon?

(LIGHTS OUT)

Pag may kapilyuhan at kaguluhan sigurado nandoon ako. Nakipaglaban ako at mayroon akong napatay.

Bakit kaya? Sabi nila PALAYAIN SI BARABBAS.

WHEN LOVING IS HARD

WHEN LOVING IS HARD

(Luke 22:63-65; 23:32-38; Matt.5:44)

INTRODUCTION:

Bible says, “LOVE YOUR ENEMIES.”

It’s hard to have enemies, isn’t it? But it’s harder to love them, right? Also, it’s hard when your friends turned to be your enemies. There was a time in my life where our friends and I decided to build a business. Our eagerness in business made our hearts did everything to make things happened according to our plan. To make it short, we failed and we were drowned in debt. That was the start of misunderstanding and fighting. We ended up trying not to see each other and each one faced our own struggles financially, emotionally and legally. Out of seven members, two or three of us only faced the tremendous debt. I remember asking God why He didn’t open my eyes to see the consequence of that decision. I was afraid to face the debtors and didn’t know what to do. That was the time I cried to the Lord and ask for guidance. My eyes were swollen because of crying. That was the time I surrendered everything to the Lord. Thankfully the next day, I had the courage to face the problems and I started writing down the possibility to solve a more than a million debt. I faced the angry faces of different people whom I talked to, the legal aspect, talking to peace process in a certain barangay and many more. So, with this, I understand the difficulty of loving your enemies.

In our lesson titled “WHEN LOVING IS HARD,” I know each one of us can relate. This talks about loving your enemies. Yes, it’s hard LOVING YOUR ENEMIES.

LESSON POINTS:

1.   WHEN YOUR PATIENCE IS PUT TO TEST

When was the time your patience was tested? When somebody tells something against us, the tendency to keep quiet is far for us to do. Our natural reaction is to answer back and defend ourselves. Jesus did

And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him. 64 And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophesy, who is it that smote thee? 65 And many other things blasphemously spake they against him (Luke 22:63:65)

Honestly, when I read this bible passage, I cried for the experience God had with people. I feel angry for those people who did bad to the Messiah. This makes me think to this question, “Do you have many reasons not to forgive?” Naturally for us, forgiving our enemies is a big deal. Our old nature telling us not to forgive because we are in pain. Imagine they made the Lord Jesus blindfolded, struck Him on the face, spoke blasphemous words against Him and they disrespected Him; that was so hard but He was in silent and did nothing against them. Instead, He said in Luke 23:34.

Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

When it’s hard for us to forgive, look unto Jesus. He is the great example of forgiving the unforgivable.

2.   WHEN KINDNESS IS HARD TO SHOW

When a hostile mob seized Jesus and took Him to the High Priest, “the men who were guarding Jesus began mocking and beating him (Luke 22:63). The abuse continued all the way through His sham trials and execution. Jesus didn’t merely endure it. When Roman soldiers crucified Him, like mentioned earlier, He prayed for their forgiveness.

Honestly, what we wish for the people who hurt us badly? For them to be in good shape and have an abundant life? We can do that; our old nature would not do that; we would wish for their misfortunes.  But we are Christians; we are a new creature (2 Cor.5:17) God wants us to be like Jesus.

We may not encounter a literal enemy who’s trying to kill us. But everyone knows what it’s like to endure ridicule and scorn. Our natural reaction is to respond in anger. Jesus raised the bar: “pray for those who persecute you” (Matthew 5:44).

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

CONCLUSION:

Truly, God can make the impossible to possible. I have no capacity to pay the debt that we had; God works in a mysterious way. As time passed by and continue pleasing and serving the Lord, by His grace He makes me at peace to people especially to our debtors. PRAISE GOD. This verse in Proverbs 16:7 is a great reminder.

When a man's ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

WHEN HOPE DEFERRED

 WHEN HOPE DEFERRED

PROVERBS 13:12, GENESIS 12:1-5; 15:1-4

Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.

          picture taken from Google
INTRODUCTION:
What does the word defer mean?
Something "deferred" is put off, delayed, or suspended. The longer a person goes without seeing their hope realized, the more likely they are to become discouraged.

Have you ever had something  you've been waiting for God to do, and you wait and wait? It could be finding God's plan for your life. You hold on into it and then you still waiting  until now. For a while, you're good but you're thinking that time is running out for you. You look for situations and nothing change.

In Proverbs 13:12 we’re told, “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life.”

In tagalog...

Deferred in this verse refers to a hopeless situation that feels long and drawn out. It’s the seemingly unending and disappointing kind of season that can leave us tempted to look at our lives and question, Why is God withholding this from me?

LESSON POINTS:

1. STILL HOLD ON TO GOD'S PROMISESIn Genesis 15:2 Abraham and Sarah had their own struggles too like us.

And Abram said, Lord God, what wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house is this Eliezer of Damascus?

Abraham and Sarah were childless and when God talked to Abraham and mentioned his great reward. Abraham mentioned what these rewards were for if they were childless. He mentioned that his steward in their house, Eliezer might be their heir. God reminded Abraham His promises in the following verses that they would have  child. In Genesis 15 verse 5, God showed him the stars and assured him that promises are set not to be broken.

And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.

With these words from the Lord, in verse 6 "And he believed in the Lord; and he counted it to him for righteousness, Abraham belived in God. This is a great example for us although we can't speak to God like what Abraham spoke to the Lord we have already God's Word. All we need to do is read His Word and believe.

2. BE MINDFUL THAT THAT YOUR WAY IS DIFFERENT FROM GOD'S
When waiting for a long time, there's tendency that you make your own way. In Abraham and Sarah's case, they made a decision that would caused them problems. In Genesis 16 verses 1 and 2, Sarah and Abraham both agreed to take Hagar instead in order for them to have a child. Then it happened and Hagar started to despise Sarah. Has this situation as ours? Do we have situation in life where we chose our ways?

Remember when I was a bit younger, I was worried because I haven't married yet and the frustrating part was the people around me, they kept on asking why I didn't marry yet. I always say, "Waiting for God's will for me." Because of that, i started to look online and tried a couple of dating apps. That decision just led me to bad habits and unchristian way of dating. Also, some guys online are just scams. I stopped from those and leave it to the Lord.

In Abraham and Sarah's situation, they knew God's promise to them (Genesis 15:1-2). They tried to help God fulfills  His promise which is not the best for them. God's way is better than ours.

3. WAITING FOR GOD'S WILL IS WORTH THE WAIT -
We already know the story and Isaac was born (Genesis 21:5). Many things happened in their family and we can conclude through their life that God's will is the best.

As this moment we may not still have the plans we have been praying for (just like me) but don’t worry God knows the best for us. We just need to be faithful and attentive to God’s voice. Pray for wisdom and knowledge in every decision we’re going to make.

CONCLUSION:
CONCLUSION taken from: https://letgodbetrue.com/proverbs/index/chapter-13/proverbs-13-12/
Believers never give up, as long as they have life, for a living dog is better than a dead lion (Eccl 9:4-10). Until God removes all hope, there is still hope, and even then there is hope. David prayed fervently for his sick son, and gave up praying when the child died, yet he knew he would see him again. He had hope, even after death (II Sam 12:15-23). Paul was sure he would die at Ephesus, but hoped in a resurrecting God (II Cor 1:8-10).

When a believer is discouraged, he has a simple remedy unknown to the world. He can remind himself to hope in God, just as David showed you (Ps 42:5,1143:5). The God of hope can give perpetual hope by the power of the Holy Spirit (Rom 15:13). Even at the hour of his death, he can be filled with joyful and peaceful hope, for he knows about heaven and the resurrection of the dead, the blessed hope (Pr 10:2814:32I Cor 15:19). The believer has hope, which the unbeliever will never have – confident waiting on God.

WORTH THE WAIT

 WORTH THE WAIT

Bible Passage: Genesis 12: 1-5 ; 15:1-4

INTRODUCTION:

Being in a situation of a single person like me, there are many worries and burdens come to your mind. I'm just glad that I can handle emotional struggles by reading God's Words.

Not just single persons but all of us have problems & struggles need to deal with. Like Abraham, he was already 75 years old and needed to deal with future plans.

LESSON POINTS:

1. When things so impossible for you,TRUST  GOD

In Genesis 15:2, Abraham point out that      He's childless when he was talking to God.      He would become a great nation but how        it would happen he had no heir. Only his      servant Eliezzer would be an heir. But God promised that Eliezzer would not be his        heir.

Like Abraham, when talking about future, we also have struggles like when we get older who would take care of us, do we have money during retirement, physical struggles if we get sick, do your children (if you have) can still visit you during old age, marriage problems and many more.

In Genesis 15: 5, God confirmed to Abraham His promise. In the present we can't talk to God in that manner, we already have His word, the Bible, there are a lot of promises to those faithful believers; we just need to read His word. By reading His Word, we're like Abraham, God's talking to us. The greatest thing Abraham did was when he responded in verse 6
"And he believed in the LORD, and he counted it to him for righteousness."

We should do the same, though it's impossible for us, Trust God

2. Your way is different from God's

We know the struggle of Abraham and Sarah at first; they had no child. But they knew God's promise to them. No longer waiting for that promise, they tried to help God fulfills His promise (Gen. 15:2-3; 16:1-2). Sarah gave her servant, Hagar, to Abraham to sleep with him and Abraham agreed. Without knowing that this would only to heartaches and family problem.

I remember when my sister and I were in younger years, we tried to look for possible boyfriend in the internet, online dating and chatting but eventually we discovered it was a scam and sexual exploitation. We were glad we didn't go on that deeper.
So you see, let's be reminded that God's way is the best and not ours.

3. Waiting for God's will is worth the wait

In Genesis 21:5 Isaac was born. It's worth the wait.

At this present, we may not still have an answered prayer with our worries and struggle, KEEP ON! DON'T GIVE UP! With God all things are possible

YOUR STATUS (1 Corinthians 1:26-31)

 Picture in Ohio River

YOUR STATUS

1 Corinthians 1:26-31

Introduction:

Having no connection with the Lord is the saddest situation you have in this world. You will have emptiness and no direction in this life. People always say that you own your life and it is you who directs it but let’s remember that humanity has the ultimate Creator who knows us better than ourselves. He knows what’s the best for us and He has purpose why He created you.

Lesson Points I learned:

1.      1. Think of what you were before you were called (I Cor. 1:26)

I remember the time before I accepted the Lord Jesus Christ in my heart; my life is full of sadness. I had a personality problem that time: I always stayed in my room especially when there were visitors in our house. I had a low self-esteem; I felt not accepted and I felt I was the ugliest in the family. So when somebody told me that SOMEONE loves me the most and shared the GOOD NEWS, I didn’t hesitate to accept that.

Bible says in 1 Corinthians 1:26 “For ye see your calling brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hat chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:

Everything changed when I chose God; my personality problem began to solve. I am already a child of God and that’s the cause of my confidence from that time and until now. THANK YOU LORD.

2.   2.   It is because of God that you are in Christ Jesus (1 Cor. 1:30)

But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:”

We owe everything to God: our eternal life, being justified, and sanctified, and redemptive. We are doomed in hell but praise God He sent His Son to save us.

3.     3. Boast not in the Lord (1 Corinthians 1:29)

That no flesh should glory in his presence.”

Reminiscing the past makes me thankful for all the things God has done to my life and to my family as well. Everything that happens to me I owe everything to the Lord.

THE OPPORTUNITY (JOHN 9:4)

JOHN 9:4 / Colossians 4:2-6

Lesson prepared by: Krisha of Solomon Wisdom FB page

MEMORY VERSE:

JOHN 9:4

“I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.” (KJV)

INTRODUCTION:

When you travel in different country the first thing you’ll see, apart from the good views, is the culture. For example, in America where I’d been: you won’t see them “make mano” to elders, the elders usually go to facilities when they’re too old to take care of themselves but we cannot judge them because that’s the way they are raised. If you talk to them and see how the system goes, you will truly understand them. People there are too busy and you seldom see people walking on the streets especially in county and also most of them have cars to use. Why I say this? I say this because in different places around the world, there are different opportunities we can see. The opportunity we have in the Philippines is not the same in other country.

How about the opportunity in sharing the gospel? Can you do street evangelism in other places? In other countries, you cannot do that, you will be put in prison. Others you need to have permits, and in some places, you will not be heard because all people are in their cars. Can you do on knocking doors? No you can’t. How can you do that if mostly people are in their work and if there are some staying in their houses, they have legitimate reasons why they’re there – busy and if you tried they’ll say “I’m good, I don’t need that.” You cannot see people making “tambay” outside. If you see them outside, they do something: mowing grass, doing gardening and many things. How about in grocery stores? If you’ll say, “you need help.” They’ll mostly say, “No, thanks. I’m good.” They are raised independently so every time they block your way in the aisle in grocery store for example, they always say “I’m Sorry” because they see the time consume in buying- their free time. Can you give bible tracts? You can in other places but most of the time they put in wipers of cars in the parking lot. You cannot give inside the grocery stores because some will report you to the store manager. In other Muslim countries, they’ll put you in prison. So what will they do now? In USA, they still try do knocking doors, giving tracts and other things; find other ways even it’s very hard. Some countries, they do basement worship services.

LESSON OUTLINE:

1)     BE SENSITIVE WITH THE OPPORTUNITY

Because of the culture and the different opportunity, some Christians in other countries just go with the flow and just wait for the opportunity to come and this cause them to feel insensitive with the opportunity when it comes their way.

Nowadays, we can see that social media is a great avenue for sharing the gospel. Instead of posting unnecessary things on social media, let’s use this as an opportunity to share the gospel especially to those our friends, relatives and others in other countries. Talking about sensitivity, when see our FB friends posting things that are alarming and you think they need help, make a private message to that person and pray for him or her. In line with this, always remember that our Facebook account or any accounts on social media are also our way of showing our testimony. So be careful what are in there or anything posted.

In the church we should be sensitive, if we see a visitor, be friendly and don’t let that time passed without telling that person how God loves him/her – share the GOODNEWS.  In our bag, let’s put bible tracts or any invitation cards so that when meet someone or a friend in a place we go, it’s easy for us to invite; It’s the first step to share what you believe in – salvation

2)    LOOK FOR WAYS

Have you experienced of not doing something in sharing the good news? We become stagnant and at peace of just being a Christian. Whether we accept it or not, our ultimate goal given to us by God is the Great Commission which is written in Matthew 28:19-20.

In the Philippines, we can still see people staying outside their houses and play, talking with neighbors, or just stay and drink coffee. The people are still reachable, you can still do the house to house sharing. So as part of looking for ways, being friendly to your neighbor is also one way of sharing the gospel. Another thing, when your birthday comes it’s the best time to invite people so it’s also the best time to share good news as part of the birthday program. Reunions, All Saints Day, Christmas, New Year and other special events are the best ways to share.

Though there are many ways, Christians come to the point of their Christian lives that that they become stagnant. They stopped looking for ways in sharing the gospel, and become deaf in the voice of the Holy Spirit or they’re not sensitive anymore to the opportunity.

3)    BE EQUIPPED WITH THE SHARING OF THE GOSPEL

If you’re a teacher, you are equipped to teach. If you’re a licensed dentist, you are equipped to treat dental problems. If you’re a doctor, you are allowed to treat patients with their health problem and many more. Therefore, if you’re a Christian, you should be equipped to share the Gospel because this is what happened to you – someone shared to you the gospel and furthermore, this is what God has commanded.

In 2 Timothy 2:8-13 we can see how Paul reminded Timothy about the Gospel. First and foremost, the content of the gospel of what Paul shared is JESUS CHRIST. It says, “Remember Jesus Christ, of the seed of David who was raised from the dead…” Timothy needed to keep the fact that Jesus is the Messiah. The gospel should be the good news that pertains to Jesus Christ who died on the cross. In sharing the gospel, Paul suffered the consequences (He was chained). He understood that they could chain him but they could not never chain the word of God. It will spread no matter what. Why he endures all these things? For the elect’s sake (God’s people), that they obtain salvation. So we see how motivated Paul was in sharing the gospel. Like Him, we should be motivated by what Jesus did on the cross for others to know. We should not have the thought that “BE SAVED ALONE IN THE FAMILY.”

According to Colossians 4:5

“Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.”

This speaks ‘to them that are without’ to unbelievers according to commentary. Part of being sensitive to the opportunity, we are commanded to walk with wisdom toward those who are outside, unbelievers. Walk in wisdom speaks on how to deal with them in order for us to have the opportunity to share the gospel. Paul believed that Christians would answer others from biblical truth. Also, it is mentioned that we must let our speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

Being equipped, read and study your bible and have your personal devotions in order for you to keep on motivated and talked by the Lord through His word. There are many ways to share the Gospel and it depends on the people you talk to or the allowed minutes you are given. If you are given only few minutes, JOHN 3:16 is enough in sharing the gospel. Study and master because this is the greatest command God told us to do while we are here on earth.

CONCLUSION:

My sister and I had once a week regular bible study to a woman in other barangay. That time we were late because of unavoidable circumstances. We knocked on the door and someone responded but not the woman we used to have the bible study, it was an another woman. So as usual we asked where the woman was and she said, she went somewhere for an important event. As she spoke, some thoughts at the back of my mind, “Best opportunity to share.” I look at my sister and our eyes were like talking. That time it was almost lunch so there was a battle on my thoughts. “You can’t share she might be cooking or she would think it was already lunch and she cannot offer you something to eat.” Because of the battle in my mind, I decided to just give her a nice bible tract in order for her to read and might know and believe Jesus as her Savior then we bid goodbye. As we were walking, I told my sister the battle in my mind and she said she experienced that too. When I heard her words, I asked her “Could we come back? Let’s try what do you think?” She said “I don’t know. It’s already lunch.” We went back a few steps but I stopped to go home and promised to share the gospel next week.

Coming of the next week, my sister and I went to our bible study with our goal of sharing the gospel to the woman we met last week. When we knocked, Donna, our Bible Study attendee opened the door. As we entered and we allowed to sit, I asked who was the woman we met last week and where she was. As she was speaking, my toes shook and my heart beat faster. She said she was already died; she was just buried a day before we came. Her death is unexpectedly because she was okay. She got measles but only few came out on her skin. The family thought she was fine and they also went to a carnival but after that they brought her to the hospital and that was it. I can’t put into details but it reminded that life really is too short; she was in late 30s I think that time when she died. After the bible study and while we were walking, there were tears in our eyes. I can’t talk that time. I prayed to the Lord and asked for forgiveness. I would never, never forget this experience in sharing the gospel. From that time on, I always sensitive to the opportunity of sharing the gospel.
