MEMORY VERSE

So, then every one of us shall give an account of himself to God.

ROMANS 14:12

INTRODUCTION:

Do you still remember your Constitution Subject? Can you still recite some of its section?

How about this? Section 4: (1987 Constitution) – No law shall be passed abridging the freedom of speech, of expression, or of the press, or right of the people peaceably to assemble and petition the government for redress of grievances.

Nowadays because of social media there are lot of “fake news” and if we don’t confirm and search for that in the right website, you would be fooled. We also have the so called, “Maritess”
which means “Mare, ano na ang latest?” Sometimes the right to freedom of speech is abused by so many people. It’s true that we have freedom but remember that freedom comes with accountability.

Galatians 5:1 says, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”

And verse 13 says, “For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.”

Your freedom shouldn’t lead you to the feeling that you’re not accountable.

What is accountability? It is being accountable which its synonym is “responsible or responsibility.” In Filipino means “pananagutan.” From the meaning itself we can say that most people don’t want to be accountable because attaches to it is the responsibility. Our lesson for today is titles, AM I ACCOUNTABLE?

Last Friday, my sister, Carol, reminded me of my “sad moments” during our Bible Study before. Our group’s name is Joshua group if you still remember that time. I know I’d mentioned this already; we knocked the door but another woman appeared at the door and she said, the woman we were looking for was not there for some reasons but upon opening the door there was a feeling inside me telling me try to share the gospel. Because of time, it’s almost lunch, I hadn’t tried to share then we left but when we almost went our way, I handed her a bible tract. While we were walking, Carol and I talking about the opportunity to share. I said, “Let’s go back” and we began to move our feet but because of the thought “it’s almost lunch and we might disturb her,” the ending was, we didn’t do it. We had promised ourselves that next week, we would prioritize that lady we met. After a week I said to the woman, “You were not here last time, may I ask, where was the lady we met here last time? Sad to say, after a week she died; this is a true story. I said to teacher Carol, I don’t want to remember that anymore but that reminds me again. Am I accountable? Are you accountable with the commitment you’ve promised to the Lord?

LESSON OUTLINE:

1.  YES, WE ARE ACCOUNTABLE BECAUSE THE BIBLE SAYS SO (ROMANS 14:12)

So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

-      Based from our memory verse, to whom we’re accountable?  Yes, we are accountable to God. Why does God want us to be accountable to Him?  Let’s read Genesis 2:15-17. The instructions God given are very simple and not confusing. Based from these verses, what were the responsibilities given to Adam (Eve)? – dress and keep the garden then thou shalt not eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

-      Based from the pastors’ sermons I watched and commentaries I’ve read there was an idea that Adam and Eve had remembered more in the 2nd instruction and swapped it from the first. The instructions were just like this, “Thou shalt not eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil; just cultivate and keep it.” Because from the time Eve was tempted, she was near to the tree and Adam was beside her.

a)   Why does god want us to be accountable to him? First, because accountability protects us from harm.

-      Let’s read Gen.3:8-10. When God asked Adam where he was, Adam replied in verse 10…” and he said, “I heard Thy voice in the garden and I was afraid…” To whom Adam was afraid of? Adam was afraid to give an account for his actions.

-      We are all accountable for our actions and promises to the Lord. Let me ask you, do you know what is right from wrong? Of course, we can distinguish what is right from wrong (based from laws and bible standard). Therefore, what matters is not the knowledge   of right from wrong; it’s the fact that we’re all accountable to God. We know when we disobey God or not.

-      God gave simple instructions to Adam and Eve: cultivate and keep it (garden) but they decided to violate. They knew it because they hid from God. In verse 9 God said, Where art thou?” Of course God knew exactly where they were, but God wanted Adam to admit something. He wanted him to admit that he got wrong. In your life, have you seen that God is bringing you into accountability? Last January, we’ve committed to ministries and whether we like it or not, we’re accountable. To those who didn’t commit also are held accountable. Remember, we are all accountable to our actions.

b)   Why does God want us to be accountable to Him? Second, because accountability involves good stewardship.

-      We already knew the story in Matthew 25:14-29 about talents. In verse 15, “And unto one he gave first talents, to another two and to another one; to every man according to his several ability…” In this verse people are given according to their ability and no one could say, “There’s nothing I can do in church ministry” but maybe this is just their reasons or they don’t want to accept responsibility. Every one of us has the responsibility to fulfill. In the church everyone matters. We have given forms to fill in and check which ministry you want to involve in. Every ministry you involve; you’re accountable to those.

-      What will happen if the company has irresponsible employees? Why company still need the time in and time out machine for employees? Is it not enough to trust the employees with their mouths saying the time they in and out? It’s because some people are dishonest, they come thirty minutes after the call time and go out 30 minutes before the end of their time out.  Also, some people don’t go to work and give dishonest reasons. For example, he’s sick though it’s not true. Doing this shows a bad testimony. If the company has irresponsible employees that would be a great problem and it would give a negative effect output service of the company.

-      Whatever you and I do if we know that someone’s holding us accountable and they’re expecting the best of you.

2.  YES, WE ARE ACCOUNTABLE BECAUSE NOTHING IN ALL CREATION IS HIDDEN FROM GOD’S SIGHT (HEBREWS 4:13)

Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

-      Anything we think is hidden is a crystal clear to God, including our own thoughts, ad motivations. We may fool other people (1 Samuel 16:7), and we may even fool ourselves (Jeremiah 17:9), but we cannot fool God (Psalm 44:21).

https://www.bibleref.com

-      Like what happened to Adam and Eve, they hid from the presence of the Lord. This is a natural reaction when we sin; hiding from God’s presence. This gives me that when we are living in sin, life is lifeless and sad because God’s presence is not there. Imagining yourself out in the presence of our Almighty God is a life full of pains, temptations, sufferings or anything worldly.

3.  YES, WE ARE ACCOUNTABLE BECAUSE WE ALL APPEAR BEFORE THE JUDGEMENT SEAT OF CHRIST (2 CORINTHIANS 5:10)

-      The Bible speaks of a special judgement that God will hold for believers only. It is known as the Judgement Seat of Christ, or the Judgement Seat of God. Paul wrote, “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.”

-      Any times the Judgement Seat of Christ is referred to by the biblical scholars as “The Bema Seat.” The reason for this is that the phrase, “Judgement Seat” is taken from one Greek word, “bema” which translated from Greek means “Judgement Seat.” During the time of Christ, this world could refer to the platform on which a ruler or judge decided to athletic competition in the New Testament, he was likely using the term as it applied to Greek sports. If the winner of a particular contest had followed the rules of competition and won, he has honored at the bema; there he was crowned. https;//www.arewelivinginthelastdays.com

-      In the city of Corinth, a stone platform was constructed to support the Bema Seat (Judgment Seat) of the local officials. The seat was used to give out awards to athletes for their competitive performances (usually a crown of wreath of leaves), but also to address legal charges brought against individuals. Apostle Paul was quite familiar with this seat. This is where he was brought before Gallio, who was the proconsul oF Achaia at the Bema Seat (Acts 18:12), “And when Gallio was the deputy of Achaia, the Jews made insurrection with one accord against Paul, and brought him to the judgment seat,” This seat was also what Paul referred to in 2Corinthians 5:9-10 as the “Judgement Seat of Christ.” In this context, Paul explains to us tha this is where the Christians will receive an evaluation for works done in the body, whether good or bad. https;//www.arewelivinginthelastdays.com

-      The participants in the Judgement Seat of Christ are members of the spiritual church. These are people who have trusted Christ as Savior from the Day of Pentecost, until the coming of Christ for His church. The Bible said that God will reward the actions of believers.

Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.” – Psalms 62:12

For the Son of Man is going to come in His Father’s glory with His angels, and then He will reward each person according to what He has done (Matthew 16:27).

-      The Lord Jesus Christ is the Judge (John 5:22-27). It is for Christians only (2 Corinthians 5:8-10).

-      The rewards we receive on earth are all temporal and perish. The rewards in the Judgement Seat of Christ are eternal and will never perish.

-      By consistently focusing on the Judgment Seat of Christ, you will naturally develop a desire to please God rather than men. Developing this attitude is the surest way to handle criticism and opposition.

CONCLUSION:

Most people don’t want to be held accountable. Whether we like it or not we are all accountable. We feel and act like we’re not accountable but in reality we cannot escape from the accountable to the Lord. If we act unaccountable in the work we do, we will be unable to do our best, it wasteful time and it hinders our spiritual growth. God’s Word motivates us to do our best in our commitment to God,

“Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the

WHEN MONEY SEEMS SCARCE

MARK 12:40 - 44
[JULY 29, 2018]
Prepared by: Krisha of Solomon Wisdom FB page
Lesson Taken from: Cortni Marrazzo, crosswalk.com contributor
Scheduled Teacher: Preacher Ronald Picar

MEMORY VERSE:
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
(2 CORINTHIANS 4:18)

INTRODUCTION:
We live in a third world country which means our country is not rich and productive. Money seems to be a common topic in many conversations in the news and business today.  Our economy is hurting and therefore many people are financially hurting as well.
As Christians, we know that God is our source of security, not the economy. Nevertheless, many Christians have found that their finances have also been adversely affected as a byproduct of the negative economy. So how do we trust God in the middle of pay cuts, layoffs, rising bills, and declining home values in our own lives?  How do we keep our faith strong in times of financial trouble?

LESSON OUTLINE:
1)          WATCH YOUR FOCUS (2 CORINTHIANS 4:17-18)
Based from the testimony of one of the contributors of crosswalk.com, she says
“The biggest thing that has helped me in recent times of financial trouble is focusing on the right thing, which is not the circumstances, but rather God and what He’s doing in me.  2 Corinthians 4:18 says, “While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
I’ve come to realize that our circumstances are temporary, but our faith and trust in God is eternal. I’ve seen income both grow and shrink in my family over the past few years, and I’ve come to realize that I can’t bank on that income -- God is the only thing that really stays constant.
I’ve also realized that I haven’t really let my faith grow during previous times of financial trouble, as evidenced by the fact that I worry every time the income goes down again. This time, I’ve decided to focus on how our current situation can help me grow closer to God because that is all that really matters.  After all, God knew this would happen and He knows when it will be over.  And even though I don’t know when it will be over, whenever that is, I want to be stronger in faith and closer to God as a result of the situation.”

-      In verse 17 is a good reminder for all Christians that our afflictions won’t stay long. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;” Therefore we need to watch our focus; we might focus on our circumstances rather than the ONE who holds our circumstances.
-      (insert your or someone’s testimony if possible)

2)          HAVE A JOYFUL ATTITUDE (PHILIPPIANS 4:4)

Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice.”
-      If you are in a difficult situation wherein your family is in a financial crisis, it’s hard for you to be happy still. When you’re in the midst of great financial problem it’s normal to be sad and think for a moment or you pause for silence. But if we let our circumstances put us in a rotten mood, we are no fun to be around. Philippians 4:4 reminds us to be joyful. It doesn’t say when we are in prosper rejoice. It mentioned, “always. It means whatever circumstances we have still be glad in the Lord.

-      In our lesson for today, we have seen that Jesus saw how people cast their money in the treasury (verse 41), He sat against the treasury. When Jesus called his disciples to see what the widow did, it means Jesus knows not just the amount the widow gave but also the heart of the widow in giving. We can say that Jesus watches what we give and how we give in our offerings. He sees our hearts in giving. He sees everything.
(insert your testimony if possible)

3)          BE THANKFUL (PHILIPPIANS 4:6)
-      No matter what we have, it’s so easy to complain about what we don’t have. If we would just stop focusing so much on what we don’t have, we can see the blessings of all that we do have, like family, friends, church, and even the physical things that God has previously blessed us with. Paul reminds us in Philippians that prayer with Thanksgiving is the key to eliminating our worry and anxiety. “Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.  And God’s peace which transcends all understanding shall guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus” Philippians 4:6
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.”

4)          DON’T STOP GIVING (MARK 12:42, 44;
2 CORINTHIANS 8:1-3)
-      When we aren’t thankful for what we have, oftentimes we’ll stop giving to our church especially when money is tight. In reality, generosity is what opens up our lives for God’s blessings.  A pastor once said that if God can get money through you, he’ll get it to you. As Christians, we are blessed to be a blessing, but if we hoard (nagtatago) all the money we have because we’re afraid that we don’t have enough, then we aren’t a blessing.
-      Christians think that if they're on a poverty level, we are not required to give for the needs of the church either the people around us don’t expect us to give. Giving is the matter of the heart.  We see in the lesson that the widow gave in spite of her bad circumstances (not rich). And in 2 Corinthians 8:1-3 mentioned that though they were in a great trial of affliction, they are still willing to give.
Moreover, brethren, we do you to wit of the grace of God bestowed on the churches of Macedonia;
How that in a great trial of affliction the abundance of their joy and their deep poverty abounded unto the riches of their liberality.
For to their power, I bear record, yea, and beyond their power they were willing of themselves;
Despite their deep poverty, they had the willingness to give. They didn’t make excuses for their present situation. Therefore we see in this lesson that poverty would not hinder us to give or be a giver.

CONCLUSION:
Having faith that God will supply our needs is extremely important, but God never promised to supply our wants exactly when we want them.  Just because God will provide during a time when money is scarce (salat), doesn’t mean we should spend money the same way we did when money was plentiful.
Beyond believing for increase, there are practical things we can do as well.  When money is tight in our family, we cut back on eating out and buying extra clothes and electronics that we don’t need.  We get creative and find more inexpensive ways to have fun and enjoy life.  If things get really tight you can cancel cable or other monthly costs that aren’t necessary.  These cutbacks will help the money you do have go further and maybe even give you more quality time to spend with your family.

God is full of wisdom and He wants to give that wisdom to us (
James 1:5), but we need to be sure to listen to God’s wisdom and heed what He says to improve our financial situation. God may provide a new job for you, but most likely He won’t drop it in your lap while you’re watching TV. We need to do the work of looking for jobs, sending out resumes, putting forth effort and on God’s end, He’ll give us favor, but we have to make the first step.

WALK NO MORE (JOHN 6: 53 - 71)

WALK NO MORE
JOHN 6: 53 - 71
Lesson Prepared by: krisha of Solomon’s Wisdom FB page
DATE: APRIL 22, 2018

MEMORY VERSE:

Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways and fear him.
-      Deuteronomy 8:6 -

INTRODUCTION:

-      Do you have some friends, relatives or love ones who have been there in the church for some time but eventually walked away from the church? They walked away after they experienced the blessings, good fellowship, good friendship, and the goodness of the Lord. It gives disappointment to those Christians who gave their time encouraging them but still they walked away. Another situation, have you heard someone got offended by the preaching of the preachers or sermon of the pastor? For you, you think it’s not a big deal but they took it seriously. These are some situations we experience in the church and sometime we ask why; only God and those persons who walk away could answer but we could get possible answers from the Bible. This kind of situation is our lesson for today which is titled, “WALK NO MORE.”

LESSON OUTINE:

       1)  WALKED NO MORE FROM PLACE TO PLACE WITH JESUS
-       The setting of our text this morning goes back to Jesus feeding the multitude of more than five thousand the previous day. Jesus and His disciples had left Capernaum to get away from the crowds there and had crossed the Sea of Galilee to a lonely place on the northeast shore near Bethsaida. However, the crowds followed them there. Jesus had compassion upon them and both healed the sick and taught them of God. That evening Jesus performed the additional miracle of multiplying five barley loaves and two small fish into enough food to feed the five thousand men present plus any women and children that accompanied them and still have twelve baskets of food left over.  http://gracebibleny.org/responding-to-difficult-doctrine-john-641-71
-      After the miracle and their stomachs were filled, they recognized that Jesus would be the prophet that should come to the world.  The people forced to take Jesus to be the King but Jesus departed and went to a mountain alone (verses 14-15).
-      We have seen in the verses that the people here were eager and motivated after they experienced miracles but these same people were also the people who mentioned in verse 66 “they walked no more with him.”

       2)  WALKED NO MORE WITH JESUS’ MINISTRY
-       In verses 24-25, they sought Jesus. It’s pleasant to read the verse that they sought Jesus but in verse 26 Jesus saw their motives. They seek Him not because they saw the miracles but because their stomach was filled with loaves. Is this sounded familiar? It’s true that some people stay and do the ministry for food. It is sad that many of these same people later get sidetracked from the importance of Jesus' true mission and the true significance of the miracle He had done. The significance was that Jesus had “the words of life” and they needed to find redemption from sins. They were more focused on the food.
-       What have you seen in these verses? Let’s accept it, not all people who seek God have good motives.

     3)  WALKED NO MORE IN THE FELLOWSHIP AND INTIMACY WITH JESUS
-       In verses 27 – 58, Jesus began sharing salvation and that He is the bread from heaven, He is the Savior of mankind but they didn’t accept his teachings. Most people are like this, they just accept things that are pleasant to them; they don’t like the hard teachings from the Bible. After they hear the doctrine that Jesus is the Savior, in verse 66 says, “From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.”
-       People still have the same reaction to Jesus Christ. They claim to be followers for a while, but the more they understand of whom He is and what He desires, the more uncomfortable they become. They want to escape hell, but they do not want to repent from their sins.
-       These are professing Christians but not possessing Christians (1 John 2:19).
-       What this lesson imply to our monthly theme, revival? One of the possible reasons why others don’t walk no more with the Lord is they need salvation; no revival will happen because revival is for Christians.

CONCLUSION:

-       If ever we have friends, relatives, love ones who walked away from the Lord, let’s continue to pray for them that they will be enlighten and find the true salvation.
-       How about us, Christians?  Remember what Jesus asked to Peter. When others walked no more with God, he asked the 12 disciples, “Will ye also go away?” Peter answered, “Lord, to whom, shall we go? Thou hast the words of eternal life and we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the Living God.” This is a good answer from Simon Peter; take note of the word “SURE.” He is sure that Christ is God. As Christians we know that our journey in life has rough roads but with this, sometimes these rough roads give us reasons to walk away from the Lord but remember we are Christians; isn’t Christ enough to stay in His will, He has the words of eternal and that’s sure.
-       Our memory verse for today reminds us to walk in God’s ways.
Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, to walk in his ways and fear him.
