Bible Passage: EXODUS 13: 17-22

Sometimes we are in times of questioning why things happen not according to our plans. We want an instant response from our struggles in life. If we are asked if we want to pass through difficulties and hardships, of course our answer is No!
The people of Israelites had gone through difficulties and they knew not the reasons but God knew better than them
1. God knows we need to be ready.
God knew that the Israelites needed to be ready in order to do what they were to do. In verse 17, God chose a longer but safer route for the Israelites. If we were asked choosing between a long route and a short route, surely, we would answer the short route so we could arrive early in our destination. But God's will should be done not ours.
I remember my journey of paying almost a million debt which was not actually my debt. I had questions in mind why I didn't see the danger of joining this kind of business. We had suffered a lot. Every time that journey crossed my mind, I can't help but cry. Thank God we had already passed that journey.
The Israelites were passed through a long route. They also had sufferings and difficulties in that journey but those things led them to God's will.
There's a great danger of the easy road. The way that seems right to us may turn out to be full of dangers that we could never even think of.
2. God knows that we need to know who He is and build trust in Him.
God delivered the Israelites from slavery and into something better, even though the Exodus disrupted their way of life.
In their journey, God's providence was there. The Lord went before them. During the day there was pillar of cloud to lead the way and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light.
Every time they needed food, God was there to provide. They were complaining but God wanted them to learn that God is their provider and the Great Source of everything.
They had been having a hard time obeying Moses' commands that there at times led them to painful punishment. Remember the time the Israelites were instructed to get food they only needed for a day but they disobeyed and the next day the food they stored had worms. In order so, they needed to learn to trust GOD and their appointed leaders.
CONCLUSION:
God used the Israelites' journey from Egypt to illustrate the path of salvation.
God needed to make the Israelites a people before He could them a home
